Soon I could see in the dim light a darkened building. I believed I was at the right place. So many cabins along Lake Pend Oreille look alike. I wasn't sure if I was at the right one.
Stopping the car I gathered the birthday present I bought for my friend, climbed up the wooden steps, and knocked on the door. No body answered. The metal knob was not locked. Before I could open the door, it flung open. As soon as I saw the whites of the black figure's eyes in front of me, I was running back to my vehicle.
Clomping out of the abandon cabin came a young moose who looked at me and then loped away. My present, now dashed upon the ground was appropriate. It was a toy stuffed moose.(c)A. Nation 2016
