After one side of the carton was pulled away, the A.I. robot could be seen inside sitting down, and then it stood up. The machine looked about six feet tall, wearing brown slacks, a long white sleeve shirt, and black shoes. The skin of the robot was flesh color and had a feminine build with human facial features with short black hair. Large letters on the outside of the crate the machine came in, was stamped, D.E.E. Jan could never figure out why a female form for a robot had to be created.
“What does D.E.E. stand for?” Jan asked.
“Digital Embryonic Entity,” Frank said.
The robot was too heavy to maneuver it out of its container. The two men reasoned they would have to turn it on.
“How does it start?” Alex asked his friend.
Frank pulled out a small hand control device from the wall of the box. After a few punched clicks, the A.I. opened its eyes.
Jan walked down the steps to get a closer look at her new helper.
“Says here we have to give it a few test commands,” Frank said looking at the control panel.
“Okay. Go forward,” Alex ordered.
“How far?” asked the robot in a flat tinned voice.
“Uh, four feet.”
The A.I. stepped out of the crate and advanced four feet straight ahead. Frank had to jump out of the way.
