Alice Morgan broke up from her second failed relationship she had on the Moon. Married young, divorced, and then living with her last love, once again didn’t work out. He was the Manager of Moon Minerals, Inc. She wanted a marriage and children but Matt wanted her to have them on Earth. She didn't want to return to the blue planet just for that reason. Since children had not entered the picture, she decided it was time to focus on the rest of her life.
Ever since as a little girl, she had memorized where all the constellations were and the names of their prominent stars. She had imagined meeting exotic people from one of those far away twinkles of light. Psychology, her second interest, motivated her to enroll in courses to study nonverbal behavior in chimps and humankind.
Eight years ago she had attended the University of Arizona to study astronomy and psychology. Her marriage, since she was twenty-one during her second year at the University, had ended in divorcing her verbal abusive husband.
She couldn't talk to her mother who had died in a car accident at the same time she rocketed off to the Moon. Nor her father, who loved to fly jets and later died in midair when one of the turbine engines failed.
Applying for an animal testing program, she found a tuxedo cat in a shelter on Earth and brought him to the Moon. He was the one delight she could turn to as he accompanied her to Mars.
She had taken a little over two years to complete her major and to finish her psychology courses on isolation. She then applied to the space program at NASA. There she was prepared for various tasks that may be required on board ship. Afterward, Alice took an intern trip to the Moon and back. She completed her qualifications to prepare her for the job of working on the Moon after a year of working as a lab tech and refitter.
Alice had been for a long time trying to write a study about the people living and working on the Moon. After saying goodbye to Matt on the Moon, she decided to change her life course and transfer to Mars where she could really work and interview the residents for her thesis.
Was she surprised when the aliens came for a visit. She was coming off duty when she first heard the strange voice over the intercoms. Frightened, elated, and confused at first she took up the challege from the commander of the station who put her in charge of talking to the aliens.
In time, she got to know Mike Carone better but was wary of forming a closer relationship, given he was her boss. Find out more about Alice's adventures on Mars and what she discovered about the aliens in Similar, But Not the Same ©A.Nation2013 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RNM62YQ
