"What is this place," I asked myself.
The building appeared to be an abandon warehouse. I pressed my ear against the door. When I heard voices calling my name from outside in the alley, I stumbled to the floor, trying to feel my way in the darkened room. I managed to walk further and found a hallway lit by the moonlight from an upper window. Almost falling, I discovered a stairway leading down to a small landing and a brick wall blocking any passage. The door above me broke open. I was trapped!
As I pressed my hands against the cold brick wall, I fell through. That's right. I fell into another room. But it wasn't a room. A stretch of forest lay before me. Sparkling lights flew overhead. Then I heard a small child-like voice speak to me.
"Welcome to our world," the diminutive person said.
I glanced over my shoulder hoping the ruffians hadn't followed me. I couldn't see the brick wall any longer. I looked down at the little fellow and asked, "Where am I?"
"Bailory. Come with me. You must meet our king," he said, taking my hand.©ANationBooks2020
