I and several others will spend a few minutes talking about our book leaving time for you to browse afterward and ask questions.
I am choosing my third book, Crossroads, to talk about. Some people who read say "I only read non-fiction. When I know they have watched andl liked some Star Trek in the past. In Crossroads A Moment of Decision, I had a dilemma. How to get my characters from Mars from the first two books down to Earth to tell a story that has happened to many of our grandmothers during the depression. In the 1930s many women, whose husbands had died or left by them, had to give their children to family members or out to foster care. My mother one of nine children was placed in foster care. My husband's grandmother lost her husband due to a heart attack, and had to care for four young children by herself. Her family was pressuring her to let them take the children, but she said no. This was a common event at that time.
In my first book, Similar But Not the Same, I alluded to another depression occurring in the 22nd century. Using this as my setting reference, I wrote Crossroads which takes place in a real town where the history began. The main story covers thefts of minor historical possessions from juvenile actions and from a crime lord laundering antiques.
Situating my characters, including the dog and cat conversations, I weave around the plot and create this family mystery of the future.
I have dedicated this book to all adopted and foster care children, and the mothers who kept them.
This may sound like an oxymoron, but both afflicted children and parents need to be recognized.
The moral of my story is 'Beware of the descendants decisions of the past. They could come to haunt you in the future.'
I hope you buy this entertaining book and post a review on Amazon. Here are the links where my books are found:
