We all have dragons, or demons if you will, that we fight on a daily basis. Dragons don't have to be mythical creatures but our aches and pains, our perception of the world, or those who hurt us. How do we cope? We create dragons. In my genre, I fight the evil that pervades our world and try to solve or make sense of one problem at a time. The evils, or the dragons, could be called prejudice, thievery, lust, retribution, death or injury, and passion, you name it. What ever or who ever disturbs your day.
In my younger awkward days, my dragon was shyness, short height, or ignorance. As a result, I was picked on, made fun of, and put down by those who had a better handle on life. Now that I have grown older, one would think I should be cynical, but I'm not. I generally have a happy outlook by ignoring, changing course, or laughing at the dragon's pomposity. I'm not shy now from the armour I have created against those dragons who want to prove they are better than me. I am still short but I stand my ground. I fought my dragons with blades of knowledge against the ones who seek me out to this day. Be patient, you too, will conquer your dragons.©A.Nation
