"Low rumbling of thunder could be heard from outside as Alex made his way through the disarray of scattered paper, and other desk paraphernalia about the floor. Checking others who he walked by to make sure they were all right, he approached his workspace. His desk was made of heavy metal and hadn’t budged as much in the earthquake. That’s when he remembered the evidence he had left in the locked drawer.
He moved around the desk to the back side and saw the drawer he had locked was now open at an angle. The drawer appeared to be forced open. Shoving his hands into the open drawer, he soon discovered the video card was missing.
“What the–,” he muttered under his breath as he heard heavy drops of rain beginning to smack the building’s large windows. Dropping to his knees, he began searching the floor among the littered debris. The key card was not there either." ©A. Nation 2016
