Hi, I'm Arnold Zuckman, tunnel laborer, age 22. Sure I like to kid around, it beats being depressed about our surroundings. I was just razzing that ahman, Ziatham, I didn't mean anything by it. When the cladding slipped, I was real sorry it happened. It was just an accident. But, you know, I got my name on report. When it got killed, boy were they looking at me. I didn't do it. I don't have any feelings one way or another against ahmans, well maybe I do. Anyway they seem OK, for now. After all anyone being that looks like us can't be all bad, can they?
I'm an ahman, hidden deep behind the scenes. I review the monitors that tells me what each ahman is doing. We have to in order to keep the peace and for our survival. We have been taught this from birth. After the tunnel breach, we could tell that Ziatham was dead, we also could see that Meeia was in Safety Room A with an injured human. We weren't sure the human was testing Meeia but we did see a fluctuation in the heartbeat, it didn't last long. Good our educational program worked. When our side had been cleared, I was one of those ahmans present pulled Meeia out and took ta back to our base.
I am Mocco, work friend of Ziatham, age 30. We were assigned to the human tunnel in the spirit of working together with humans. Most of the humans were nice and respectful of us. Some of the workers avoided us but most that we worked with were all right. When the cladding slipped, Mr. Zuckman tried to apologize but I couldn't determine if he was sincere. The heavy material narrowly missed Ziatham. That ahman was concerned about a log entry on the human side, so when the work shift ended, Ziatham and I parted as he headed over to check it out. That was the last time I saw ta alive.
