He had previously been on Earth in a travel rotating schedule to various churches and denominations when he received a communique from his old friend from military service, Major Holbrook, who invited his colleague to come to Mars. The Reverend jumped at the chance over a year ago hoping he could be of more service to the staff and soldiers on the base.
He felt sometimes that he was born in the wrong century wanting everyone to follow the age old rules of the Bible, but he also was aware of the reality of this life and tried to comfort those that attended his chapel. Sometimes he would become melancholy that religion was not the first priority in everyone's daily life. Many laws over the last few centuries have eroded many religious doctrines taboos. He knew when societies were unable to enforce what use to be a certain way of life, they give up or write new laws that say forbidden actions are now acceptable. He seemed to feel that he was living in the century of "take the painless and easy way out."
He was thrilled beyond words one day when a couple on the Mars base asked him to perform a marriage ceremony.
