In a few minutes he heard a faint beeping overhead. A service drone from Ken’s Auto Repair began announcing its arrival.
“Service repair, service repair,” it called, “Please step away from the vehicle. Remove all passengers at this time.”
Mike opened the door to let Alice come out. Both of them stood by and watched the robotic quad drone descended and landed near the left side of their car. It was about three feet in diameter with five helio blades extending from the middle of its frame.
First the device inserted a metal diagnostic connector into the unknown abyss of the vehicle’s computer. Extracting a tool from a top compartment, the robot turned a knob and another around the unseen motor.
“Your AG315 has failed. Do you want repair contacted?” The spider drone asked.
“Can it be repaired here?” Mike asked.
“No, it is damaged.”
“Yes, call for repair.”
After a few seconds, “Your order has been placed. Your wait time is approximately one hour.” The five legged drone removed its tool and began powering up for lift off. Alice and Mike backed away and watched the small machine rise off the ground and fly back toward the city.
