The robust guard standing near the Cargo Bay door felt tired and decided to walk over to a nearby coffee dispenser. As he turned away, a shadow behind the stairwell door opened and closed the access before slipping down the hallway to the Cargo Bay. The security guard returned to his post with his drink unaware what had occurred.
The silhouetted gloved hand reached down and picked up a rebar from a stack of materials near the wall. The explosive device, set several hours earlier under the cart of androids, was still in place as a gloved finger switched the device on. Just as the figure was about to punch in a code on a transmitter, something strong, cold, and metallic caught the person’s wrist. One of the android's hands wrapped tighter against the human skin. The intruder gritted her teeth against the strong desire to scream.
“Human Recognized. Stop. Stop,” emitted a voice from the machine.
Panicking the silhouette slammed the rebar with her other hand onto the outstretched metallic arm from one of the androids. Sparks flew in all directions as the rebar hit metal against metal. Again the shadow swung the weapon amid the agonizing restraint until her wrist was released. Freed from the strong grip, the shadow’s wrist was throbbing in pain.
In the fervor, something kicked the device toward the other end of the cart as the figure stood back holding her hand as several blue lighted eyes lit up from several awaking androids. A high pitched alarm of several shrill beeps began alerting the security guard. The figure hurried and hid behind some large wooden supply containers cradling her right hand.©A. Nation
